5 Tips for Winter Vitality!
Make vitality a reality!
January is a tough month for vitality & overall wellbeing.
Today, I would like to share with you some of my personal tips for vitality everyday. They are simple, fast & results driven!
1. Sweat it out!
Having a sauna regularly helps to eliminate toxins & renew your blood. After a sauna you will feel revived, clean from the inside out & full of energy. Just dont forget that it is important to rest for as much time as you stay in the sauna - so if you are in the sauna for 20 minutes please ensure that you take a cold shower and rest for at least 20 minutes before going in again. Ideally you should do 2 or 3 heat sessions. One sauna a week will boost your overall wellbeing!
2. Get outside!
The cold is no excuse, just wrap up warm and get out there for a brisk walk at least once a day - it will help you to get that vitamin D that your body needs (even when there is no sun you still get the benefits) & the fact of being outside in daylight will help you sleep better & increase your dopamine levels (happy hormones!). A twenty minute walk a day does wonders for the soul!
3. Take vitamin C supplements - lots of them!!
It's cold season, we are surrounded by sick people & it is difficult to keep the winter sniffles at bay. Vitamin C is one of the most economical & best ways to stop yourself coming down with that dreaded cold. If you feel yourself getting a bit "coldy" take 1000mg of vitamin C every 30 minutes and you will be surprised at how fast the cold symptoms will disappear!
4. Meditate daily!
Most of us are stressed, overworked & tired.... a daily meditation practice helps to alleviate the symptoms of stress & general illbeing. It takes as little as 10 minutes of meditation to destress. There are some great apps on offer to help if you're just starting - my favorites are "Petit Bambou" in France & "Ananda", Deepak Chopras meditation app (in English). You can download the apps on the Apple store and a monthly subscription costs as little at 9€.
5. Drink lemon & ginger in hot water if you're feeling bloated!
During the winter months we tend to eat heavier food than during the summer. If you've gone a little overboard drink a large glass of lemon juice (& the grated rind) & ginger in hot water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. It will work wonders and you will feel light & airy in no time! Plus both are packed with vitamin C so great to keep those winter sniffles at bay too!
